The women competing at the European SUP championships

On August 27th, the European SUP (Standup Paddleboarding) Championships started in Hvide Sande, Denmark, and will continue until Sunday 4th September.

 

This event sees a number of different races, over the week-long event (SUP Surfing, SUP Technical Race, SUP Sprint, SUP Long Distance, Danish SUP Tour), bringing together the best European paddleboarders in all different disciplines of the sport, including Juniors!

 

The event opened on Saturday 27th August, as the teams strolled through the streets of Hvide Sande downtown, holding up the flags from each European country, ending near the beach for opening speeches, and entertainment.

 

The Schedule

 
  • Saturday 27th – Tuesday 30th August – SUP Surfing
  • Tuesday 30th August – SUP Sprint Races (Juniors, Men, Women)
  • Wednesday 31st August – SUP Long distance
  • Thursday 1st – Friday 2nd September – SUP Technical Races

Saturday 3rd September – Team Relay (Junior + Senior)

SUP Surf
 

These are the Final Winners of the Senior Women’s heats, and the Junior women’s SUP Surf heats (not shown in order – points in the penultimate column).

The SUP Surf heat happened south from the southern pier in Hvide Sande, over 3 days from Sat 27th – Tues. 30th August.

SUP Sprint
 

The SUP Sprint Race is a 200m sprint in open ocean. The start and finish line is at the beach around 10m from shore line. Athletes need to paddle in between two buoys that are placed 100m in a straight line out in the ocean. Athletes can also either go left or right around the one of the buoys.

 

The Winners of the Women’s SUP Sprint included athletes from Denmark, France, Wales and Spain.
